TIEFENRÄUME – SCHWELLENORTE (underground spaces- threshold places)
is a workshop project by Candy Lenk for the Architecture Faculty at the
University of Applied Sciences Coburg.

Underground spaces create complex places, which oscillate between fearful thrill and prenatal suspension, between dungeon and womb, between horror and comfort. The project focuses on the dialogue between above and below. The examination of this relationship test and sensitizes perceptual patterns. The discovered spatial structures and mechanisms are converted into three-dimensional models that are open to interpretation. Special attention is given to the assembly of materials and their sensuous characteristics.
